न किरण-ऐ-उम्मीद यहाँ, न चट्टान-ऐ-हौसला,

साथ हैं मेरे यार-दोस्त, हर शाम महफ़िल जमती हैं,
पर हैं एक सूनापन सा कही, इंतज़ार हैं बस फ़ना का।
एक अदद को दी मैंने कसम, ज़िंदा रखना मुझे कलम से,
वरना मरने के बाद कौन याद करेगा, इस ज़र्ज़र मकाँ का।
देखता हूँ हर शाम रात, खिड़की से अपनी झाँक कर,
बह रहा हैं एक खामोश दरिया, छोड़ के दामन जहाँ का।
बस अब न रोकना मुझे, जाने दे मुझे ऐ 'नादान',
